Hahaha. This one isn't right. If you know about the information theory problems with democracy in the way we currently have it structured, you'd know that no amount of voting or voter interest will make it a functional system. Once you know about that you almost have to be thankful for the the oligarchs, at least 25%. Without them absolutely nothing would be steering this train, because our form of democracy can't do it.
It's not that we've lost control but for the existance of oligarchs. The gears do not exist between the steering column and the rutter.
