I'm watching Gor on Tubi and although it's a cheese fest, it presents a stark example of what we have lost. There are scantily clad Warrior women with bobs galore, female wrestling scenes that aren't too bad, and even a midget! Hollywood could reverse it's box office cancer in a minute if they'd just admit what guys want to see and deliver to it.
People don't write fantasy when they're feeling hopeless; Then they write dystopias.
Robert E. Howard wrote Conan the Barbarian between 1932-1936 during the Depression. Tolkien started LoTR in 1937.
Star Wars came out in the 70s, which was pretty depressing compared to the 50s.
To restore hope, we need big haired women with slammin' cans.
Can we leave out the shoulderpads though? Those were dumb.
Hear, hear!
Dark fantasy can be quite dystopian.
Is that Dune then?
