I've never understood how evolution skeptics deal with the fossil record. I realize it's spotty, but I mean generally speaking, more primitive stuff is fossilized in the old rocks, more modern stuff is fossilized in the newer rocks... 🤷♂️
Simple. They see what they want to see. (As we all do to some degree.)
I live with a family who believe the Bible is the word of God. They ignore that there were the Gnostic, Apocrypha, and other texts that were edited out by man. They ignore the rampant contradictions within it, not to mention the vast room for interpretation and mistranslations, edits, additions, and problems with the Scofield Bible. And if it's so perfect and clear why are there so many sects of vastly varying Protestants? They say there are no other texts out there that teach about spirituality, laws, and how to live - but ignore all the other magic books out there. He doesn't have time so I set him up with the Tao Te Ching and Siddhartha for introductions - and he says they're too simple, not trying to get the essence of it. He says the evolution of the eye is too complex for evolution, then I make him a playlist that he doesn't watch. He thinks that because there are missing links it's a gotcha. They don't believe much in philosophy nor psychology. They think faith is a virtue.
